Term 3, Week 6 2024
Hello Friends
Hats
With our warmer weather approaching we see a rise in the UV level, can I please ask that families ensure that our children have hats at school to wear from Monday 2nd September 2024.
NO HAT NO PLAY
Uniform shop is open Monday 8.30am – 10.30am to purchase a school hat if you are needing one.
School Photos
Our school photos will be taken by MSP Photography on 18 September. Obviously with our uniform in a ‘transition’ phase now, we ask that all students wear their PE uniform on photo day.
Playground
We are in the final stages of having the playground completed with a few panels remaining to be installed in a playground space as well as soft fall to be replenished in the area. I am working with the SRC to organise an opening ceremony for our new playground space.
Parent Teacher Conversations
Please remember that the opportunity for Parent Teacher conversations occur next week and the week after. Appointment times will vary from teacher to teacher. Please remember that these meetings are to understand your child’s academic progress in the classroom and that they are scheduled for 15 minutes. It is important that we keep to these time frames so that other families who have booked in to see the teacher are on time. If a follow up meeting is required, then this can be arranged with the classroom teacher.
Uniform update
Our uniform committee met with our uniform supplier last week and we are in the final stages of understanding when our new uniform will be available to the school community for purchasing. As soon as we have a commencement date, I will let families know. Thank you to our uniform committee for their time and involvement and to our community for its feedback.
2025 Staffing
It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce that Annette Denton and Lucy Knagge will be working at Christ the King School for 2025 and beyond.
There was a large group of highly skilled applicants for these teaching positions, and we congratulate Lucy and Annette on being successful in these positions.
Well done Lucy and Annette
Motorist behaviour and Students Safety
I remind motorists once again, about road safety and the safety of children and community members. PLEASE REFRAIN from stopping in the middle of surrounding streets to drop children off or collect children from school. This practice is unsafe for children and causes traffic congestion. SA Police patrols and Marion Council Inspectors are frequenting our school and surround streets.

On September the 1st Christian denominations around the world usher in the Season of Creation.
Each year the Christian family unites for this worldwide celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home.
September 1 was proclaimed as a Day of Prayer for Creation for the Eastern Orthodox Church by Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios I in 1989. It was embraced by other major Christian European churches in 2001, and by Pope Francis for the Roman Catholic Church in 2015. It is a special season where we celebrate God as Creator and acknowledge Creation as the divine continuing act that summons us as collaborators to love and care for the gift of all that is created.
As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common call to care for Creation. We are co creatures and part of all that God has made. Our well-being is interwoven with the well-being of the Earth. In the letter of Paul the apostle to the Romans, the biblical image pictures the Earth as a Mother, groaning as in childbirth (Rom 8:22). Francis of Assisi understood this when he referred to the Earth as our sister and our mother in his Canticle of Creatures. The times we live in show that we are not relating to the Earth as a gift from our Creator, but rather as a resource to be used. And yet, there is hope and the expectation for a better future. To hope in a biblical context does not mean to stand still and quiet, but rather groaning, crying, and actively striving for new life amidst the struggles. Just as in childbirth, we go through a period of intense pain, but new life springs forth.

BOOK WEEK 2024
We had such a wonderful celebration of Book Week. The week emphasised all forms of reading and love of books. We launched the week with a wonderfully inclusive parade. Families created costumes that represented favourite books and characters. We had a plethora of witches and wizards pretending to be staff for the day and we had a heartwarming collection of preschooler siblings and playgroup members who finished off our parade.
During the week classes completed learning activities based around the nominated books and craft tasks that highlighted our growing love of reading. We gathered as a whole school to celebrate in prayer the gift of WORDS and highlighted the special gift of the Bible as a guide and support in out lives.
At lunchtime the fun continued with lunchtime activities including a colouring competition, games, movie watching and “Guess the lollies in the Jar’ competition.
We had a mass buddy reading session on the courts on Friday to round off our week.
A BIG thank you goes to all who supported the week by dressing up, joining in shared reading, bringing books form home and creating special activities. We look forward to 2025 and our ongoing love of all that is books!
