Term 2, Week 10 2025
Hello Friends
It’s been 100 days of school for our Reception students and for some of our other year levels, it’s been 250 – 1350 days of school. Well done to our Reception students and families on this marvellous milestone.
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to our students from Yr. 5 who celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June. There were wonderful events, and I thank Annette Denton for leading the students and the celebrations.
Staff News
We welcome back Teresa Pascoe in Term 3. Teresa has been on Long Service Leave in Term 2 and we look forward to hearing of her tales of adventure and being back at school.
We also congratulate Jocelynne Gallichan on her teaching position in the Yr. 3 Classroom for Term 3. Sophia Sacoutis will be taking Long Service Leave in Term 3. We wish Sophia a great break and will see her back at CTK in Term 4 and welcome Jocelynne to the CTK team.
Student Reports
My thanks to all our families for their support of students and staff during this semester. As you would be aware, Academic Reports went home this week to summarise students’ progress. I encourage you to make a time with your child’s class teacher regarding Semester 2 learning goals and look at progress in their curriculum areas. Refer to the section below on Parent Teacher Interviews and via Audiri notices.
School Shoes
If you are planning to buy new school shoes over the term break for your child, please ensure the shoes are either all black or all white.
We have so many exciting events on next term and so I encourage you to be aware of the dates at the front of this newsletter so you don’t miss out. More details regarding each of these events will be made available closer to the time.
I wish you and your families a great break and look forward to seeing you in Term 3.

Strength, Vision & Legacy: Sent Forth with Purpose
Next week we celebrate NAIDOC Week with the theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” which is a powerful reminder of the role young people play in carrying forward culture, truth, and justice.
In Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 10:1–12, 17–20), Jesus sends out His followers in pairs, entrusting them with a mission: to bring peace, to heal, and to proclaim that the Kingdom of God is near. Though they were ordinary people, Jesus saw in them the strength and vision needed to carry on His work.
As a Catholic school, we see this same hope in our young people: Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous alike as they learn from the past, listen deeply, and step forward as leaders of reconciliation and unity.
May we honour the legacy of First Nations peoples by walking together in truth and peace, empowering the next generation with courage and compassion.
“The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few.” – Luke 10:2
Journey to Emmaus - Year 6, Day Two
On Monday, our Year 6 students travelled to Sacred Heart College, Champagnat Campus, for their second day of the Journey to Emmaus program. The day began with Mass celebrated by Father Joash, followed by a recap of Day 1 and lots of discussion around the theme of being the face of Jesus.
Students then heard from senior Sacred Heart students who shared inspiring stories about their involvement in projects that make a difference both locally and globally. These projects, focused on areas such as environmental care and community outreach, highlighted the many ways young people can be ‘game changers.’ The senior students were great ambassadors for their school, passionate about mission and encouraging for others to do the same.
The day concluded with games and craft activities, allowing Year 6 students to continue building relationships with their peers as they prepare for the transition to high school. It was a meaningful reminder that they do not journey alone and that with faith, courage, and openness, they can embrace new experiences and find God in unexpected places.
St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal – Supporting Those in Need
100 Days of School (Reception) and St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
There were a number of very old looking people that shuffled their way into the Reception Class on Wednesday morning! Even the teacher looked a bit greyer than usual!
Congratulations to our Reception Class and Mrs Rowe who have achieved 100 days of schooling!
As a part of the festivities associated with being 100, the students invited the rest of the school to join them in creating ‘100 coin’ lines.
Look at our achievements!
Thank you to all our generous CTK families who have supported the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Your thoughtful donations, big and small, will go a long way in helping those in need during the colder months. All coins collected will be donated directly to Saint Vincent de Paul. We raised an amazing $340.80!
Our SRC members are deeply grateful for the kindness and compassion shown by our school community, and we look forward to passing on these heartfelt contributions to support the important work they do.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion
Over the past few weeks, several of our students have been preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. This past weekend, we were blessed to have Father Joash celebrate Mass at St Joseph’s in Brighton, where Charlotte Cooper, Airlie Corcoran, and Sienna Smith received the Body and Blood of Christ for the very first time.
In addition, Seán Garvey had the unique opportunity to travel all the way to Ireland to make his First Holy Communion. We trust that this was an amazing experience!
The Christ the King School community warmly congratulates these students on reaching this sacred milestone. As they complete their Sacraments of Initiation, we pray that they continue to walk closely with Christ, growing ever more deeply in faith, hope, and love.

Ambulance Cover for Students with Pre-existing Medical Conditions
We would like to remind all families of the importance of having adequate ambulance cover, particularly if your child has a pre-existing medical condition.
In the event of an ambulance being called for your child due to their pre-existing condition, the cost of the ambulance service lies with the family.
To avoid any unexpected financial burden, we strongly encourage families to check their current level of ambulance cover and ensure it includes their child/ren with pre-existing conditions. This is especially important as ambulance fees in South Australia can be significant.
Your understanding and cooperation in this matter helps ensure the wellbeing of all students while also protecting families from unforeseen costs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
On Wednesday, our Reception Class celebrated 100 Days for Reception.
What a wonderful day! All the students 'aged' overnight, and we had a very old classroom full of the most gorgeous old men and women, celebrating their special day.
In conjuction with the St Vinnies Winter Appeal, all students were encouraged to bring in silver coins to create coin lines of 100 to represent this milestone day for the Reception Students.
Together, we managed to raise an incredible $340.80 to support people in need, which is such a fantastic achievement for our school community. Many thanks to our school community for your continued support!

In Religion, the Year 4 students have been learning about the lives of saints and recently focused on St Thérèse of Lisieux. We learnt that she carried a string of beads in her pocket, moving one each time she did something kind or helpful. These beads reminded her to show love through small, thoughtful actions each day.
Inspired by her example, students selected 10 colourful beads and created their own good deed beads to encourage kindness in their own lives.

As our enrolment numbers continue to grow, we kindly remind you to submit applications for siblings of current students for the upcoming years - Term 3 2026, 2027 and 2028.
To ensure a place for your child, we encourage you to enroll as soon as possible. Spaces fill quickly, and we don't want any families to miss out on securing a spot for their younger children. While sibling enrolments are prioritised, places cannot be guaranteed for late applicants.
Please contact Meri Blake, our enrolment officer for more information or to begin the application process.
Thank you for your continued support.
